Galileo Mining (ASX: GAL) has unearthed some head-turning assay results from its Norseman project in Western Australia, with recent aircore drilling returning high grade gold and palladium in one metre intervals.
The standout assay result came from hole NAC759, where a one metre interval delivered 13.74 grams per tonne gold and 3.21 grams per tonne palladium, with additional platinum mineralisation. This result forms part of a broader seven metre zone grading 3.87 grams per tonne of 3E (palladium, platinum and gold) from 28 metres downhole.
Other noteworthy hits include:
1 metre at 3.35 grams per tonne 3E, including 0.94 grams per tonne gold and 2.21 grams per tonne palladium (NAC756)
1 metre at 1.62 grams per tonne 3E, with 1.26 grams per tonne gold (NAC801)
4 metres at 1.11 grams per tonne 3E (NAC694)
These results were obtained from one metre fire assays, a technique that offers greater precision compared to the broader aqua regia assays initially used. The campaign forms part of a 4300 metre aircore drilling program completed in August across 149 holes.
Importantly, these assays confirm the potential for high grade gold and PGE mineralisation along the 10 kilometre Eastern Contact Zone at the Mission Sill prospect, a geologically compelling area located just eight kilometres from Galileo’s 17.5 million tonne Callisto resource.
Galileo Managing Director Brad Underwood noted that the gold and PGE results suggest the potential for mineralised seams and veins at depth. “Individual assaying of samples from recent aircore drilling has returned excellent results which highlight the prospectivity of our Norseman project,” Underwood said. “We know the area has potential to deliver new resources as shown by our 2022 discovery of the Callisto deposit, and we are seeing consistent PGE anomalism in aircore drilling along 10 kilometres of strike at Mission Sill.”
Galileo has already locked in a reverse circulation drilling contractor, with the rig scheduled to arrive in late November. This next phase of drilling will test bedrock targets below the anomalous aircore results, with a particular focus on locating the ultramafic and mafic rock boundary often associated with PGE mineralisation globally.
The Norseman project continues to emerge as a promising PGE and gold district. With the Callisto discovery already under its belt and a suite of targets across Mission Sill and beyond, Galileo is positioning itself to add further value through the drill bit as 2025 draws to a close.
