Sun Silver Limited (ASX: SS1) has reported further thick and high-grade mineralised intercepts from its Maverick Springs Silver-Gold Project in Nevada, as part of the 2025 exploration program. The latest results from drill hole MR25-231 have exceeded grades in the current mineral resource estimate, supporting the project's growing profile in the silver and critical minerals space.
Highlights from MR25-231 include 102.1 metres at 86.2 grams per tonne silver equivalent (AgEq), comprising 49.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.44 grams per tonne gold, from 192 metres. Within this, 50.6 metres returned 149 grams per tonne AgEq, with 91.7 grams per tonne silver and 0.67 grams per tonne gold. An additional intercept revealed 10.7 metres at 1.59 grams per tonne gold, with assays up to 2.95 grams per tonne gold.
Antimony mineralisation was also confirmed in MR25-231, with a 9.1 metre zone averaging 1 percent antimony and individual assays as high as 9.3 percent from 195.9 metres. These intersections further underscore the presence of high-grade critical minerals in the resource area.
Additionally, MR25-221 extended mineralisation with a 63 metre zone grading 20 grams per tonne AgEq from 286 metres, further enhancing the understanding of the deposit’s scale.
Sun Silver noted that drilling continues to replicate known mineralised zones and expand the definition of the resource. The geological framework appears robust, with open extensions offering potential upside.
The company’s flagship Maverick Springs project gained added significance in 2025 after silver was included in the United States Department of Interior Critical Minerals List. Combined with support from Australian and US federal agencies, the project is strategically positioned to benefit from increased government and industry attention.
Managing Director Andrew Dornan said the results reinforce the quality of the Maverick Springs resource.
“Drilling continues to deliver thick, high-grade silver-gold mineralisation at grades above the existing mineral resource, reinforcing both the scale and quality of the Maverick Springs system. The presence of high-grade antimony further enhances the project’s strategic value as silver and critical minerals markets continue to strengthen.”
Silver has also outperformed other commodities in 2025, trading above USD 100 per ounce, adding further tailwinds to Sun Silver’s exploration momentum.
